
Enrico Drei Dona, from Tenuta La Pallaza, was our guest at Jasper's, along with noted wine writer and consultant, Doug Frost, our friend Joe Ancona, from Vinyard Brands and the Bondon brothers, from Berbiglia. Doug, is one of the world's 3 Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine!! VERY IMPRESSIVE, indeed!!
We tasted the wines of Drei Dona Tenuta La Palazza, a world-class winery in the heart of the Romagna region, in Italy. Located in the gentle hills between Forli and Castro-caro, the Drei Dona vineyards, grow both traditional and contemporary varietals, that winemaker Enrico Drei Dona, uses to produce the family's exceptional vintages. They were ALL EXCELLENT, especially the Sangiovese.
As usual, I had to serve my Scampi alla Livornese, along with Doug's favorie, my Polenta con Gorgonzola e Fungi. I also made some very light 'gnocchi', for our pasta course. For dessert, just an espresso and my 'Chocolata del Morto' or 'Death By Chocolate'. I also shared some Patric Chocolate with Doug, Joe and Enrico, and they were, to say the least, very impressed.
Enrico, was born in Bologna, and has an MBA in Wine Industry Marketing. He is President of the "Italian Young Wine Producer Assoc". I was honored to have him in my restaurant and his wines are already on our list! As I have written many times, we are so fortunate to entertain so many friends and guests at Jasper's. Thank you Joe Ancona, another long time friend of our family and Vinyard Brands for ALWAYS THINKING OF JASPER'S.
